Thomas R. Shane, Chairman.
Tom Shane founded Business Strategy Group in 1993, so he could leverage his combination of business, legal and entrepreneurial experience and skills. Business Strategy Group was named by Lawyer's Weekly as one of the top consulting groups in Boston. After graduating from Boston College, cum laude, Tom went on to obtain his JD from Suffolk Law School and his MBA from Babson College. Tom began his business career with Faded Glory, the company that introduced the concept of "fashion" jeans to the world. He was instrumental in both the establishment & management of the company. Tom was the co-founder, Vice Chairman, and General Counsel for Leading Edge Products, Inc., a pioneer in computer manufacturing that popularized the IBM clone strategy and which set the trend for the growth of the computer industry. In 1988, Tom founded Shane & Paolillo, P.C., at its peak a firm of 34 attorneys on both coasts, in which Tom specialized in corporate law. Tom now is also President & CEO of an affiliated company, The Lending Team, Inc., providing creative financing solutions in the commercial real estate market.  Tom also manages a unique fund which has achieved double-digit year-over-year results for over 20 years.

Jeff Swartz, President.
Jeff has 30 years of experience as an executive and entrepreneur in technology-based businesses and currently serves as the President of Hundsun Global Services, Inc., a provider of high-performance software development and go-to-market consulting services.   Jeff is the co-founder and former CEO/President of Current Analysis, Inc., the innovative and award-winning provider of competitive response information solutions to the world's leading telecommunications, IT, and business infrastructure software vendors. 

Prior to Current, Swartz was senior vice president with Giga Information Group in Cambridge, Mass., where he served on the management committee and was responsible for marketing, events, and research publications.  Giga was acquired by Forrester Research.   Before Giga, Swartz was employed by BIS Strategic Decisions, a former NYNEX subsidiary, acting as interim co-CEO in 1995 and filling a variety of executive management positions including senior vice president, Conferences and Publications Division (1994-1996) and senior vice president of Consulting (1992).   Jeff’s earlier background also includes the founding of a technology-oriented newsletter publishing company, Communications Publishing Group, Inc., which he managed from 1982 to 1986. Additionally, he conducted independent consulting in the advanced materials field from 1986 to 1989 and spent a year at an Arthur D. Little division, Decision Resources, Inc., where he was vice president of the Research Publishing Division.

In 2002 Jeff was a finalist in Ernst & Young's National Entrepreneur of the Year program.   Mr. Swartz earned a B.S. in psychology from Boston College

Hemang Shah, Chief Technology Officer.
Hemang has 22 years of experience in helping commercial and government clients develop complex IT solutions, including both large scale software implementations as well as specific applications.  He is one of the world’s leading experts in mobile technology, particularly Apple’s iOS, with which he has spearheaded the successful development, commercialization, and competitive differentiation of multiple iPhone, iPad, and IPod Touch applications.    Recent assignments range from interim CTO for a developer of interactive educational software and architect of a solution for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that leverages mobile technology with integrated Geotagging information and real time financial data to help inspectors.

Previously Hemang worked with many commercial and Federal Government clients on a range of assignments, including NASDAQ, the United States Patent & Trademark Office, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Securities & Exchange Commission.His strength is using technology to solve complex business problems while creating a great user experience.

Hemang received his BS in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University in 1988

MEMBERS

Jonathan “JB” Haller

JB has 25+ years of senior management experience building profitable global content and media businesses in high-tech markets. JB founded and built Trivinci Systems, an integrated video data hardware and software solution for capturing, synchronizing and streaming video and data across 3G/4G networks; the Trivinci solutions are deployed in motorsports (BMW, Porsche, Audi), federal government markets and commercial transportation for asset tracking and reporting.

Prior to Trivinci, JB was SVP Marketing at Mobile 365, a text messaging interoperability clearing house for the major wireless carriers; JB helped to grow Mobile 365 from less than $1 million annually to $25 million annually, prior to its acquisition by a competitor.

Prior to Mobile 365, JB was Executive VP of Operations at Current Analysis, an award-winning hosted content provider of tactical competitive response information solutions to the world's leading telecommunications, IT, and business infrastructure software vendors. JB helped to build the company from start-up to over $20 million annually in less than three years.

JB’s early career experiences included brand management at Procter & Gamble, senior marketing and sales roles at the Advisory Board Company and senior manager at KPMG in Baltimore, Montvale NJ and Madrid, Spain.

JB holds a BS Accounting from the University of Maryland and a dual-major MBA in Strategic Management and Marketing from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

William Hughes
Bill leverages his combination of skills to develop, execute and finance strategies to enable companies to grow. Bill is able to utilize his 30 years of business leadership experience applying the methodologies, disciplines and passion that have attributed to his success.

Before his strategy consulting work, Bill was President and Chief Operating Officer at Shawmut Design and Construction, a leading national general contracting and construction management firm headquartered in Boston, with offices in New York, Providence, New Haven and Las Vegas. For 11 years he was directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company as it grew from $200 million to almost $1 billion. In his role, he led the Senior Management Team in promoting the unique culture while maintaining strong financial performance and revenue growth.

Prior to leading Shawmut, Bill served as a General Manager for Johnson Controls for five years and for twelve years, held a variety of leadership positions in multiple businesses at General Electric. Bill holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Bill also serves on the Board of Directors for The Room to Dream Foundation, the Board of Directors of The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Overseers at Roger Williams University.
