Brian L. Mitchell

 

Brian L. Mitchell has spent the past 19 years lending to, investing or advising small businesses. In 2010 Brian co-founded SM Capital, Inc. along with his partner, Thomas R. Shane, to provide SMB’s with debt and equity and investors with alternative investments. Brian has since continued to independently invest and advise early-stage companies with capital raises.

 

In 1999 Brian graduated with a finance degree from The University of Iowa. After a brief professional baseball career in the Toronto Blue Jays farm system, Brian began his professional career working for a commercial bank. In 2003 Brian became a financial adviser for Chicago based RIA. He helped advise high net-worth clients in areas such as investments, estate planning, retirement planning, insurance solutions, and small business consultation. Brian’s specialized area of focus was the development of the alternative investment portfolio where many of his lead investments saw significant returns for his investors. He also is a co-founder and partner in DD Sports, LLC, an All Sports Academy which was founded in 2003 to help youth athletes develop in baseball, softball, and football. Brian also is a high school baseball coach at Iowa City High.
